Gregory Lewis - Walla Walla

I occasionally work as a travelling piano teacher at a Lutheran school in a small German town in southern NSW.

The 30km drive from my home to the school is entirely through rich agricultural land, making my commute a most pleasant experience. I usually take one of my old Jaguar cars.

The colour shots were taken on Ektar or Portra 800 with an N75 and Sigma 24-105mm f/4. The B&W shots were taken with an F90x, Voigtländer 40mm f/2 and Kodak BW400CN.

The town itself was established in 1869 when German settlers travelled 1,000km by wagon train from Adelaide. The impressive Lutheran church houses a particularly fine organ on which I gave several recitals during the 1990s.

The main street is an odd mixture of run-down shops and public buildings. St Pauls school has a focus on horse riding and agricultural studies.
