Gregory Lewis - Corryong 2014

The town of Corryong lies on the route towards Australia's highest peaks, the Snowy Mountains. We visited the annual antique machinery display and local museum. Film was a roll of expired Portra 400 in an N75 with a Sigma 24-105mm zoom.

The locals are proud of their history, most of which concerns logging millions of tons of timber then farming the land to supply Melbourne with cattle, sheep and butter. A display of axes showed some of that early history while a portable sawmill recreated a tiny part of what was once a huge industry.

A few rotting railway bridges are all that remains of the highest and steepest line in Victoria from Wodonga to Cudgewa. The bridge image was taken on an N90s, Voigtländer 40mm and BW400CN.

The scenic drive back to Albury overlooks bare foothills where vast forests once stood. All that remain are a few scattered trees along the banks of the Murray River. Here are views from Farran's Lookout: Ektar film, N75 and Sigma 24-105mm.
