Gregory Lewis - Bandiana War Museum

Bandiana War Museum near Wodonga is an impressive collection of war machines and military equipment. The Museum is on the grounds of the Army Logistic Training Centre

I carried my Nikon F6 and a single roll of Portra 800. As usual I set the exposure compensation to +1.0. I locked my Tamron 15-30mm to f/4 and let the excellent Vibration Control take car of shutter speeds that hovered around the 1/15 mark throughout my tour.

Images were processed with DxO. There is a significant greenish glow caused by the green painted concrete floor, the fluorescent lights and the large number of green vehicles. I have kept some of this effect in the photos rather than attempting to adjust the white balance to a daylight standard.

The museum is very well organised and maintained with enough military items on display to satisfy the keenest observer. I was intrigued by the giant horse made from vehicle spare parts.

I was interested in the Vietnam display. I was too young by only a year to be in the "lottery" that sent boys to fight in a faraway jungle. As a musician I have marched in many ANZAC Day parades. It was a surprise to see the Army Band marching along a deserted dirt road.
