Gregory Lewis - Brisbane Trip

We travelled north from Albury, following the inland route via Dubbo. I took my F6 loaded with Portra 400, my Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 and an old Nikon 70-210mm f/4-5.6 AF zoom. My camera meter was set to ISO 250.

The Brisbane Botanical Gardens provided a photographic highlight for me.

The Japanese section was tranquil and most relaxing, such a huge contrast to the noisey crowded city only a few kilometres away. The expansive gardens were opened in 1976 and now cover an ever changing landscape of plant and animal life.

We enjoyed a fine lunch and memorable views in the Glasshouse Mountains National Park.

Our return trip followed the same route and we stopped briefly at Mt Kaputa National Park, a dramatic series of mountain landscapes on the site of two extinct volcanos.

The organ pipe rock formations of Sawn Rocks was well worth the short bush walk from the carpark. The forest was slowly recovering from a major fire.

Further down the road we stopped at Siding Springs Observatory, one of Australia’s most important astronomy centres.
